Highlights from THAGS
Our services to members and the community:
For our members, we published a newsletter twice this year If you missed the newsletters, be sure to let us know. Otherwise, review our oldest newsletters by clicking this link. Before each meeting, we have a help desk for members to ask questions.
For those with family in the Humble Area, we maintain an obituary file for the local Observer Newspaper for Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, and Montgomery County. The obituary index can be accessed through clicking this link.
We support a genealogy library at Lone Star College - North Harris (2700 W.W. Thorne Drive Houston, TX 77073) with 2,000+ books. To learn more about the library, click this link. Exciting parts of our society: Members share their knowledge with our group through monthly lectures. Additionally, our monthly bus trips for individuals 50 and up for $1 a ride. We went to Clayton Library, The National Museum of Funeral History, and Olivewood Cemetery. What's planned for the next year? The Humble Area Genealogical Society invites everyone to join us for our research trip to Salt Lake City from June 4 - 11, 2017. This trip is open to anyone interested in genealogical research, and you need not be a member of our society to join us. Genealogists from beginners through advanced will benefit from the record collections at the Family History Library. We are staying at the Plaza Hotel at Temple Square next door to the library. This trip includes seven nights, and transportation and baggage handling to and from the hotel, and six full days of research at the Family History Library. A preparation meeting will be held to help acquaint you with the FHL catalog and prepare for the trip. For more information or questions please call: Pam Walton 281-358-6449
