Know Hebrew or Yiddish?? Can you help Lynna Kay Shuffield?
I have been allowed access to Rabbi Zacharias Emmich's Bris Book in his handwriting ... It has been digitized and I have been given a copy of the book in high-quality .pdf format ... However, it has not been translated or transcribed ... Rabbi Emmich was the first formally ordained rabbi of Cong. Beth Israel in Houston which was organized in 1854 ... At the beginning of the book, it has printed pages in Hebrew & German and then continues in Rabbi Emmich's handwriting with the name / date of the circumcision ... I do not know if his handwriting is in Yiddish or Hebrew ... This is an extremely important research tool for early Texas Jews and I am calling on individuals to volunteer to help with translating the pages .... If you cannot translate, please feel free to send this announcement along to anyone you think has the language skills and might be willing to help with this project ... Lynna Kay
