THAGS News
FROM PAM WALTON:
I know we are all interested in going to the Houston Forum on Sept 8th to hear Frank Billingsley speak. The program is from 10-12, with munchies starting at 9am. My thoughts are to get there early since I have no idea how many people will come. I have informed them that there are a few of us from THAGS that will be coming. Karen Acker and Jeannie Hartwick both volunteered to drive. If any of you know who else would be interested give them the info. Let me know if you plan to attend and we will set a time to meet in Kingwood. http://hgftx.org/ http://hgftx.org/event/hgf-monthly-meeting-dna-adoption-search-frank-billingsley/
Frank wrote the book Swabbed and Found and several of us have read it already. It is not the typical.....I found my mother and father in Anywhere, USA. You will find it very interesting since Frank is not a genealogist and had to learn as he went. Those of us who have done the DNA testing know it is not clear cut but we have done our family trees so you can imagine how it was like for Frank.

FROM CLAYTON LIBRARY: Volunteers Needed
A new short-term volunteer project is starting up at the Clayton House for which we could use a handful of volunteers, and I wanted to ask around to see if anyone might be interested in helping out. The project involves boxing up the books at the House that had previously been marked for discard, in preparation for their pickup and delivery to the HPL Book Sale.
Helpers will load books into boxes and tape up the boxes, but will not need to lift or move the boxes (I will move the packed boxes to a common storage area to await pick-up.)
Since most of the books that need to be boxed are located on the 2nd floor, it may not work too well to try to do this during your Clayton House desk shift (if you are a Clayton House volunteer), although if you wanted to do a few boxes before or after your House shift, you help would certainly be appreciated. Please send me a reply if you’d like to participate in this project and I’ll send you more information.
Thanks!
