Presentation: "Revolutionary War Compiled Service Records"

by John P Deeben

John P. Deeben works for the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C., as a military archivist with the Archives I Reference Branch (RR1R), and serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Early American Military Records. He has been with the National Archives since 2003. John provides reference assistance for Old Army records, and has lectured and written about federal records of genealogical interest. He has spoken to various national and local groups, including the National Genealogical Society (NGS), Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS), and the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (Gen-Fed). Articles have appeared in numerous genealogical journals and magazines, including Prologue, American Ancestors, the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, and various state publications. A native of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, he currently resides in North Beach, Maryland. John holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in American history from Gettysburg College (1987) and The Pennsylvania State University (1990).
