September General Meeting:

In our September THAGS General Meeting we will have Michael T. Keene’s presentation “Abandoned: The Untold Story of the Orphan Trains.” The presentation actually covers many situations where children found themselves without parents and the people who worked to provide care for these children.

The second part of the meeting, we hope to share the stories of our THAGS members who might have found one or more of their ancestors as a child without the care of their biological parents. Do you have someone in your family tree who . . .

· Was an Orphan? Both of the child’s parents died or left before the child was 18 years old.

· Was Fatherless? Biological father died or left before the child was 18 years old.

· Was Motherless? Biological mother died or left before the child was 18 years old.

· Was born to an unwed mother?

As you have researched these ancestors . . .what challenges have you run into? What records have been the most help in solving your research questions regarding this challenge?

Salt Lake City Research Trip

Are you already planning your trips for 2024? Why not be a part of the THAGS Salt Lake City FamilySearch Library Trip?

Dates: March 3-10, 2024

We have 10 rooms on reserve at the Plaza Hotel next to the library. Each room is two queens. So if you share a room it is only half the price per night. Each room is $110 a night.
